Iran Wins Asian U-20 Volleyball Championship for Sixth Time


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran claimed the Asian Men's U-20 Volleyball Championship for the sixth time on Saturday.

Behrouz Ataei’s boys defeated South Korea 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-18) in final showdown held in Riffa, Bahrain on Saturday.

Iran had already defeated South Korea 3-0 in Pool A.

Iran and South Korea had previously qualified for the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Men's U-21 World Championship as the competition’s top two teams.

Thailand finished third after beating Iraq 3-1 (25–23, 18–25, 25–20, 26–24) in third-placed match.

Iran’s Amir Hossein Esfandiar was chosen as the tournament’s MVP.

Morteza Sharifi and Puria Yali from Iran were named as the Best Outside Spikers.
