Iran, Azerbaijan Hold Consular Meeting

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan held the first round of meetings on consular affairs in Tehran.

Directors of consular department from the foreign ministries of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan met in Tehran on Saturday.

In the first round of such gatherings, the two officials hailed the advances in easing the visa requirements for the two countries’ travelers, judicial interaction, extradition of convicts, and the joint war against narcotics and the organized crimes.

They also emphasized the need for the efforts to fully implement the bilateral agreements already signed by the officials.

Iran and Azerbaijan have accelerated efforts in recent years to forge closer partnership in various areas.

Azeri President Ilham Aliyev has paid several official visits to Tehran in the last couple of years. Iran and Azerbaijan have signed dozens of memorandums of understanding and agreements to promote mutual cooperation in the political and economic spheres.
