Iran’s Top Diplomat, New PUIC Chief Meet in Tehran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held talks with the new secretary general of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Member States (PUIC), Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass, on issues of mutual interest.

In the meeting in Tehran on Tuesday, Zarif and Khouraichi Niass exchanged views about the PUIS’s duty to boost unity and convergence in the Muslim world.

The two sides also discussed ways to help resolve the current problems and crises facing Islamic nations.

The PUIC is composed of the parliaments of the OIC member states. It was established in Iran on June 17, 1999, with its head office located in Tehran.

The organization was inaugurated with the aim of introducing the sublime precepts of Islam and seeking to disseminate them while emphasizing the various characteristics and humanism of the Islamic civilization, according to its official website.
