Iran Loses to New Zealand in FIBA U-18 Asian Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran was defeated against New Zealand 87-72 in the 2018 FIBA Under-18 Asian Championship on Thursday.

Mohsen Shah Ali’s team failed to qualify for the semi-final after suffering defeat against New Zealand in the competition, underway in Nonthaburi, Thailand.

Iran had defeated Indonesia 80-50, Kazakhstan 86-54 and Japan 71-64 in previous rounds.

The 2018 FIBA Under-18 Asian Championship kicked off on August 5 and will run until August 11.

A total of 16 teams participate in the tournament underway in Nonthaburi, Thailand.

The top four teams will qualify for the 2019 FIBA Under 19 Basketball World Cup.
