Yemeni Snipers Gun Down 20 Militants in Hudaydah
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yemeni snipers shot dead 20 Saudi-backed militants and UAE forces in Yemen’s strategic western coastal province of Hudaydah.
An unnamed military source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Saba news agency that Yemeni forces fatally shot 20 Saudi mercenaries and Emirati troops in an area west of the al-Durayhimi district in Hudaydah province on Friday.
Five military vehicles belonging to the militants were also destroyed during the operation.
Saudi Arabia and the UAE launched an offensive on June 13 to capture Hudaydah, the main entry point for food in a country teetering on the brink of famine.
The operation, however, came into an immediate halt in the face of stiff resistance by Houthi fighters and residents of the port city, which forced the kingdom to wind down the push.
