Iran Beats Canada at World Wheelchair Basketball Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran defeated Canada in men’s competition at the 2018 World Wheelchair Basketball Championships on Monday.

Iran finished first in Pool A after beating Canada 83-71.

Omid Hadiazhar had 26 points, seven rebounds and nine assists for Iran. Morteza Abedi added 24 points.

Tournament scoring leader Patrick Anderson led Canada with 34 points, 13 rebounds and five assists. David Eng added 14 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Iran had already defeated Germany and Morocco in the preliminary round.

Iran finished the round robin with a 3-0 record.

The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) World Championships for both men and women are taking place from August 16 to 26 in Hamburg, Germany.

The 2018 IWBF World Championships feature 16 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams vying for the world title.
