TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian President Bashar al-Assad prayed at a Damascus mosque early on Tuesday morning as Muslims marked the Eid al-Adha holiday, state media said.

State television broadcast images of the president praying at al-Rawda Mosque in the capital.

Assad was joined at the prayers by a number of members of his party, as well as several ministers and members of the parliament.

Eid al-Adha (the Feast of Sacrifice) is an important festival on the Islamic calendar which marks the climax of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
