Iran Wins Two Gold Medals in Greco-Roman: Asian Games


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers Mohammad Ali Geraei and Hossein Nouri claimed two more gold medals in the 2018 Asian Games.

Geraei snatched a gold medal in the 77kg after defeating Kyrgyzstan's Akzhol Makhmudov 7-3 in the final match.

Bronze medal was won by South Korean Kim Hyeon-woo and Yang Bin from China.

Nouri also won Iran’s seventh gold in the Games after beating Uzbekistan’s Rustam Assakalov 6-1 in the 87kg final match.

Turkmenistan’s Şyhazberdi Öwelekow and Azamat Kustubayev from Kazakhstan jointly won the bronze medal.

Iranian athletes had already won five gold medals in the Games.

Saeid Rajabi in taekwondo +80kg, Mirhashem Hosseini in taekwondo 63kg and three Iranian freestyle wrestlers claimed three gold medals in the Games.

Hassan Yazdani (86kg), Alireza Karimi (97kg) and Parviz Hadi (125kg) snatched three gold medals.

The 2018 Asian Games, officially known as the 18th Asian Games and also known as Jakarta Palembang 2018, is a pan-Asian multi-sport event scheduled to be held from 18 August to 2 September in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang.

The athletes compete in 465 events across 40 sports and 67 disciplines.
