More Foreigners Visiting Iran’s Hamedan: VP

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – There has been a remarkable rise in the number of foreign tourists visiting Iran’s western city of Hamedan, chosen as the tourism capital of Asia in 2018, Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri said.

Speaking to reporters upon his arrival in Hamedan on Monday, Jahangiri said the city’s selection as the tourism capital of Asia in 2018 has provided a good opportunity to advertise its great capacities.

He also noted that the number of foreign tourists visiting Hamedan has risen remarkably in the current Iranian year, which began in March.

Jahangiri has travelled to Hamedan, known as one of Iran’s oldest cities, to attend the International Conference of Hamedan as the “ACD Tourism Capital, 2018”.

The three-day conference is initiated by the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD), a continent-wide forum established in June 2002.

Hamedan was chosen as the capital of Asian tourism in 2018 in the second ACD meeting, which was held in Cambodia in June 2017.
