Asian Games: Ehsan Haddadi Claims Iran’s 19th Gold


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Discus thrower Ehsan Haddadi took Iran’s 19th gold medal in the 18th Asian Games underway in Indonesia on Wednesday.

Haddadi won the gold medal with a throw of 65.71 meters.

Iraqi Dagher Al Saamah Mustafa Kadhim claimed the silver with 60.09 meters and bronze medal went to Eissa Zankawi from Kuwait.

Iranian athletes have already won 18 gold medals in the Games.

Saeid Rajabi in +80kg and Mirhashem Hosseini in 63kg have won two gold medals in taekwondo.

Hassan Yazdani (86kg), Alireza Karimi (97kg) and Parviz Hadi (125kg) snatched three gold medals in wrestling freestyle.

Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers Mohammad Ali Geraei in 77kg and Hossein Nouri in 87kg also seized two gold medals.

Wushu practitioners Erfan Ahangarian in the -60kg and Mohsen Mohammadseifi in the -70kg won two gold medals.

Reza Alipour claimed a gold medal in the climbing and women’s kabaddi snatched Iran’s 11th gold medal.

Iranian women’s and men’s kabaddi teams snatches two gold medals.

Weightlifter Sohrab Moradi snatched gold medal in the men's 94kg class.

Karate athletes Sajjad Ganjzadeh in the +84kg and Bahman Asgari Ghoncheh in the -75kg won two gold medals.

Behdad Salimi snatched a gold medal in weightlifting with a total lift of 461kg.

Hossein Keyhani took a gold medal at the 3000m steeplechase.

Kurash athlete seized a gold in the men -81 kg.

The 2018 Asian Games, officially known as the 18th Asian Games and also known as Jakarta Palembang 2018, is a pan-Asian multi-sport event. The event is underway from 18 August to 2 September in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang.

The athletes compete in 465 events across 40 sports and 67 disciplines.
