Persepolis Defeats Nassaji ahead of Key Match against Al Duhail
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis earned an inspiring victory over Nassaji Mazandaran with five days until its vital match against Al Duhail of Qatar in the AFC Champions League.
Persepolis defeated Nassaji 2-1 in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
Ali Alipour opened the scoring for Persepolis in the 50th minute.
Nassaji striker Ali Shojaei was sent off in the 63rd minute after receiving his second yellow card.
Nassaji defender Hamed Shiri scored an own goal in the 70th minute.
The visiting team pulled a goal back in the dying moments of the match from the penalty spot.
Georgian defender Giorgi Gvelesiani converted the penalty into the goal.
Persepolis moved up to second place in Iran Professional League (IPL), three points behind Padideh.
