Russia Forces Showcase Capabilities at Vostok 2018 Drills (+Video)


TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Russian Air Force and artillery units showcased their capabilities at Zabaikalsky Krai's Tsugol and Mukhor-Konduy firing range as part of the Vostok-2018 drills on Friday.

The Uragan multiple rocket launcher system, Msta-B howitzer and Akatsiya self-propelled gun carried out tests at the firing range.

Crews from flying Su-30SM, Su-34, Su-24M and Su-25 aircraft destroyed targets simulating enemies such as units of artillery troops, a column of tanks and motorised infantry units. Target information was passed on by the crews aboard Su-24MR reconnaissance aircraft.

The Vostok 2018 military exercises run from 11-17 September, in the Far East of Russia, Al-Masdar news reported.

Around 300,000 troops, 1,000 aircraft, 36,000 armoured vehicles and 80 vessels are involved in the war games, according to the Ministry of Defence.

They were joined by the personnel from the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and Mongolia.
