In a meeting with leaders of US Muslim communities, held in New York on Tuesday, the Iranian president said Takfiri terrorism poses the biggest threat to the holy image of Islam, adding that the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group has not only slaughtered people, but also beheaded nations’ belief in religion and Islam.
He also added that Muslims across the world should try to promote Islam through right action and virtues like truthfulness and commitment, urging efforts to help the young generation by explicating the true culture of Islam in practice.
Highlighting Iran’s role in pushing terrorist groups out of Syria, Rouhani underlined that the future of the Arab country must be decided by its own people through ballot boxes.
Rouhani is in the US to attend the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly.
