Two Gunmen on the Loose after Paris Double Shooting near Champs-Elysees

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Paris police are hunting the two suspects after the incident this morning on Avenue George-V, near the Champs-Elysee.

Two men were "seriously injured" in the incident and the suspects are reported to have fled on a motorbike.

The motive for the attack remains unclear.

Le Parisian reports the two victims were sitting in a Smart car during the attack in front of terrified onlookers.

The newspaper reports around 15 witnesses gathered around the car – with some shouting "they got shot".

Witnesses claim the vehicle was left riddled with bullet holes and covered with blood following the attack.

The two victims, both 30, were transported to Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital and the military hospital in Clamart, Daily Star reported.

Firefighters also attended the scene after the shooting just after 6am on Sunday.

Paris remains on high alert following a wave of terrorist following a string of terrorist attack within the city linked to ISIS (also known as Daesh)

Tourists have also been warned about rising crime rates in the city linked to gangs.

It was announced 5,000 police officers will be deployed in Paris at seven key sites across the city, including Montmartre, the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower over the summer.

The UK Foreign Office advises those travelling to Paris to “take sensible precautions".
