Rouhani: US Unable to Turn Nov. 4 into A Bitter Experience for Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The US government would never achieve the objective of turning November 4 –the anniversary of US Tehran embassy takeover- into a bitter experience for the Islamic Republic, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani underlined.

Addressing a session of the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution in Tehran on Tuesday, Rouhani played down concerns about a new round of US sanctions that is going to take effect on November 4.

“Today, the US government seeks to turn Aban 13 (November 4) into a bitter and miserable experience for the Iranian nation,” the president said.

The resisting morale of the great Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic’s courageous leadership, however, will definitely defeat the US plots, Rouhani stressed.

Every year on the 13th day of the Iranian month of Aban, the Iranian nation holds rallies across the country to mark the anniversary of the US embassy takeover. The former US embassy building in Tehran is known by Iranians as the “Den of Espionage”.

Meanwhile, the US government has decided to slap what is calls crippling sanctions on Iran on November 4 this year.

On May 8, US President Donald Trump pulled his country out of the nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which was achieved in Vienna in 2015 after years of negotiations among Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

The White House has also announced plans to drive Iranian oil exports down to zero and launch a campaign of “maximum economic and diplomatic pressure” on Iran.
