Production of Iranian Fighter Symbol of Fight against Arrogance: Minister
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami highlighted the country’s self-sufficiency in producing military gears and said the mass production of the first domestically made fighter jet dubbed ‘Kowsar’ is a “symbol of fighting against arrogance”.
“The manufacture of the all-Iranian Kowsar fighter jet in cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) is the culmination of the performance of the Iranian nation’s brave sons in the defense industry,” Brigadier General Hatami said, addressing a ceremony held on Saturday to inaugurate the mass production line of Kowsar.
“Despite the enemies’ sanctions, the IRIAF, addressing one of the most vital aviation needs of the country, has gained a new strategic achievement in the field of air combat as a gift to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the noble nation of the Islamic Iran and the Armed Forces,” he added.
“The production of this advanced and indigenized fighter jet is, in fact, a genuine symbol of fighting against arrogance and countering the excessive demands of the hegemonic system led by the great Satan, the US,” he went on to say.
Kowsar was unveiled on August 28 in a ceremony attended by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
The advanced fighter jet has been manufactured following extensive research and efforts by the Iranian Defense Ministry’s experts.
It enjoys capabilities such as a highly integrated architecture and a fire control system using the fourth generation of the digital data networks.
Capable of carrying various weapons, the aircraft is used for short aerial support missions.
Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.
Iranian officials have repeatedly underscored that the country will not hesitate to strengthen its military capabilities, including its missile power, which are entirely meant for defense, and that Iran’s defense capabilities will be never subject to negotiations.
