Iran Condemns Terrorist Attack in Mosul

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned a recent deadly bombing attack in Iraq’s northern city of Mosul.

In a statement on Sunday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi decried the incident as “shameful and inhumane”, offering condolences to the Iraqi government, people and families of victims of the car bombing.

“By conducting blind and indiscriminate terrorist acts targeting innocent and defenseless citizens, the remnants of terrorist groups intend to take revenge for the defeat they have suffered at the hands of the Iraqi nation and government; however, they will never succeed and will soon be wiped off the region forever,” Qassemi added, according to the Foreign Ministry’s website.

At least 4 people were killed and several others wounded in Mosul on Thursday when a car bomb went off in front of a restaurant in western part of the city.

Mosul was recaptured by Iraqi forces from the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group after an 8-month battle in 2017.
