Iranian Commander Hails Israel’s Defeat in Face of Palestinian Resistance

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh praised the recent achievements of Palestine’s resistance forces against Israel, saying the Zionist regime has accepted its defeat.

Addressing a ceremony held in Tehran on Thursday to mark the martyrdom anniversary of Brigadier General Hassan Tehrani-Moqaddam, known as the father of Iran's missile program, Brigadier General Hajizadeh said the people of the besieged Gaza Strip have achieved such power that within 48 hours after the start of the resistance forces’ clashes with Israel, the Zionist regime asks other countries to mediate a ceasefire.

Israel’s attempts to secure a ceasefire indicate that they have accepted their defeat in the face of the Palestinian people, he added.

On Tuesday, Palestinian groups in the besieged Gaza Strip agreed to an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire with Israel to halt two days of intense fighting with Israel sparked by a botched Israeli special forces raid miles inside Gaza.

Hamas-led groups accepted the truce to restart the situation that prevailed up until this latest military escalation.

A statement by Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza said, "Egypt's efforts have been able to achieve a ceasefire between the resistance and the Zionist enemy.

"The resistance will respect this declaration as long as the Zionist enemy respects it."

The announcement set off celebrations in Gaza City with hundreds of Palestinians taking to the streets to declare victory.
