Friendly: Iran Beats Trinidad and Tobago

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran defeated Trinidad and Tobago national football team 1-0 in a warm-up match in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on Thursday night.

Karim Ansarifard found the back of the net from outside the area five minutes into the second half.

The Nottingham Forest striker had missed a penalty in the first half.

The match was held as part of preparation for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, where Team Melli has been drawn along with Yemen, Iraq and Vietnam.

Iran, who is ranked the No 1 team in Asia in FIFA world rankings, is scheduled to open its AFC Asian Cup campaign against Yemen at Abu Dhabi on January 7.

Carlos Queiroz’s men will also play a friendly match with Venezuela on November 20 in Doha, Qatar.
