Friendly: Iran, Venezuela Play Out Stalemate
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran and Venezuela national football teams played out a goalless draw in a friendly match on Tuesday.
Iran, who had defeated Trinidad and Tobago 1-0 on Thursday, drew 1-1 with Venezuela in Doha, Qatar as part of preparations for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
Venezuela striker Darwin Daniel Machis gave his team the lead in the 35th minute.
Ali Gholizadeh cancelled out Machis’s goal in the 42nd minute.
Team Melli is looking ahead to January’s Asia Cup in the UAE where it will be one of the favorites.
Iran will face Iraq, Yemen and Vietnam in Group D.
Venezuela is the only South American side to have never qualified for the World Cup and it finished last in World Cup qualifying.
