Denmark Suspends Weapon Export Approvals to Saudis amid Khashoggi Scandal

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Danish authorities decided to suspend approvals of arms and military equipment exports to Saudi Arabia after Jamal Khashoggi's murder, Danish Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen said in a statement.

He added that the decision was made after consultations with other EU foreign ministers, Sputnik reported.

Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist, known for his criticism of Saudi policies, went missing on 2 October after entering the Saudi Consulate in the Turkish city of Istanbul.

On November 20, US President Donald Trump said that the Saudi crown prince could have known about Khashoggi's murder. He said the US must stick to its Arab ally regardless, in order to ensure the security interests of the US and its allies.
