Tunisian Social Media Activists Decry Visit by Saudi ‘Saw Master’ (+Photos)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Tunisians social media users decry Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman's planned visit, calling him 'Abu Manshar' meaning ‘The Saw Master’ in Arabic for his role in ordering the killing of writer Jamal Khashoggi in Turkey.

A planned visit by Saudi crown prince caused a major outburst of anger in Arab language social media platforms, where thousands of users especially from Tunisia condemned the first ever visit by bin Salman since he took power in the kingdom and bombarded twitter with anti-Saudi posts in which #Abu_Manshar hashtag - meaning 'The Father of Saw' or 'The Saw Master in Arabic' - was among the most used anti-Saudi slogans.

It didn’t take long for the users to vent their anger on Saudi crown prince by photoshoping him with different kinds of murder weapons.

Another one shows a Saudi man with a saw in his hand and acid in another referring to Khashoggi murder.

This one reads Wanted for Justice.

People also wrote "no to visit by Abu Manshar to Tunisia," referring to the killing and dismembering of Khashoggi in Saudi consulate in Turkey that reportedly took place by bin Salman’s order.

Tunisian politicians and civil society groups have also expressed their rejection of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's upcoming visit to Tunisia.

The visit is part of Prince Mohammed's first tour abroad since the killing of Khashoggi at the kingdom's consulate in Istanbul, which has widely been blamed on the crown prince.

The Saudi Royal Court said that the tour was decided on the directives of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and that it aims to strengthen the kingdom's relations regionally and internationally.
