Iran Professional League: Persepolis Held, Esteghlal Emerges Victorious
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis football team and Tractor Sazi of Tabriz played out a goalless draw in Iran Professional League (IPL) on Sunday.
In the match, held on a rainy day in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, the two teams showed a lackluster performance in front of 35,000 spectators.
In Mashhad, Padideh defeated Saipa 1-0 to remain top of the IPL table.
Mohammad Ghaseminejhad scored the only goal of the match in the 82nd minute.
Esteghlal edged past Esteghlal Khuzestan in Ahvaz’s Ghadir Stadium.
Rouhollah Bagheri was on target in the 29th minute.
Padideh leads the table with 29 points, followed by Sepahan (26 points) and Tractor Sazi (23 points).
Persepolis is fourth with 21 points and with two matches in hands.
