The rally comes as a group of the migrants clashed with border police after trying to breach the US-Mexico border crossing near Tijuana on Sunday.

US authorities deployed tear gas as scores of migrants crossed the dry bed of the Tijuana River and attempted to make their way towards the crossing.

The border was temporarily closed after the incident, with traffic being stopped in both directions.
