In the club’s General Assembly, which was attended by Iranian Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Masoud Soltanifar, Fathi was named the new General Manager of the club.
Fathi replaced Reza Eftekhari in the Tehran-based football team in July.
Eftekhari, who stepped down as General Manager of Esteghlal, was the target of considerable fan dissatisfaction due to his side’s failure to challenge for the Iran Professional League title.
