Volleyball Club World C’ship: Iran’s Khatam Suffers Second Loss

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Reigning Asian champion Khatam Ardakan lost to Asseco Resovia Rzeszow from Poland 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-11) at the 2018 FIVB Men's Club World Championship late Wednesday.

Thibault Rossard led the Polish side with 19 points, as Damian Schulz and David Smith also scored in double digits.

Khatam had already lost to Trentino Volley of Italy 3-0 in its first match.

Resovia joined in qualifying to the semifinals four-time world champion Diatecx Trentino of Italy, who had beaten South American champion Sada Cruzeiro Contagem.

Italy's Cucine Lube Civitanova and Fakel Novy Urengoy had already qualified to the top four after Tuesday's action in the city of Plock.

The 2018 FIVB Men's Club World Championship is the 14th edition of the tournament.

It is being held in Poland for the second straight time from November 26 to December 2.
