Iran Urges Extension of Syria Crisis Settlement Model

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani suggested that the initiative developed by Iran, Russia, Turkey and Syria to resolve the crisis in Syria should be used in other fields, such as economy.

Speaking to reporters in Turkey on Thursday, Larijani said the successful cooperation among Iran, Syria, Russia and Turkey for the settlement of a regional problem in Asia was a model that achieved remarkable results and could be extended to the economic, security and political spheres to address other regional issues.

Elsewhere in his comments, Larijani said Iran will soon host a meeting of the parliament speakers of Iran, Russia, China, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Turkey on ways to combat the threat of terrorism, regional insecurity and drugs, and coordinate efforts to boost economic cooperation.

Larijani is in Istanbul to attend the 11th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA).

The conference kicked off on Wednesday and will go on until December 3.

The 10th meeting of Asian Parliamentary Assembly was also held in Istanbul in November 2017.
