Javad Nekounam Shortlisted for Paykan Hot Seat

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Former Iran national football team captain Javad Nekounam has been shortlisted to take charge of Paykan football team.

Nekounam, who currently is Nassaji coach, will reportedly step down as his coaching role in the Ghaemshahr-based football club.

Paykan parted company with Majid Jalali by mutual consent in early December.

Jalali left the Tehran-based football team following the poor results with the team.

Paykan suffered six successive defeat in Iran Professional League (IPL).

Nassaji won a promotion to the IPL after a 24-year absence under leadership of Nekounam.

Former Foolad and Sepahan coach Hossein Faraki is also among the nominees to be appointed as Paykan coach.
