Nekounam is a candidate to take charge of Paykan football team.
Nassaji won a promotion to the Iran Professional League (IPL) after a 24-year absence under leadership of Nekounam.
Paykan parted company with Majid Jalali by mutual consent in early December.
Under guidance of Jalali, Paykan suffered six successive defeats in IPL.
Former Foolad and Sepahan coach Hossein Faraki is also among the nominees to be appointed as Paykan coach.
