Over 20 Civilians Killed in US-Led Airstrikes in Deir Ez-Zor: Report

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – At least 20 civilians, including women and children, have been killed in a US air force attack on a village in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor city, Syrian state news agency SANA reported.

The airstrikes, which targeted the village of al-Baghouz Foqani in southern districts of Deir ez-Zor, also injured scores of civilians, according to the report.

The raids targeted the families who were trying to escape Daesh-held areas, the report added.

The death toll is likely to rise as most of the wounded sustained serious injuries.

The US and its allies have been bombing what they call Daesh positions inside Syria since September 2014 without any authorization from the Damascus government or a UN mandate.

The aerial assaults, however, have on many occasions resulted in civilian casualties and failed to fulfill their declared aim of countering terrorism.
