Police Chief: Security Prevailing in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Police Commander Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari gave an assurance that all parts of the country enjoy a desirable level of security, saying his forces are prepared to maintain order at the upcoming rallies marking the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory.

Speaking at a conference in Tehran on Wednesday, General Ashtari said an appropriate level of security prevails across the country.

No case of security threat has been reported to the police, the commander said, adding that his forces are monitoring all suspicious moves in the country to combat any threats.

He also emphasized that the police have made the necessary arrangements to ensure the security of the nationwide rallies celebrating the 40th anniversary of victory of the Islamic Revolution on February 11.

A higher turnout of demonstrators is expected in this year’s rallies on the revolution victory anniversary, the commander added.

In a speech in December 2018, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei dismissed comments by US officials that the Islamic Republic would not see its 40th anniversary, saying the Iranian nation will celebrate the 40th anniversary of victory of the Revolution this year more magnificently than before.

Pointing to the uncovered plots that Americans have hatched over the past two years to harm Iran, such as imposing sanctions and assisting Iran’s foes, the Leader also noted that the US objective was to create bipolarity and division in Iran through sanctions and anti-security measures.
