Secretary of the Iranian Council for Development of Biotechnology said the council has plans to unveil six new medicines and precursors used for the treatment of various types of cancer.

Mostafa Qane’i said the cancer drugs have been all produced by the local experts, and will be unveiled after receiving quality certification.

He also noted that the Iranian scientists have made a remarkable number of cancer medicines considering the sanctions imposed on the country.

In 2014, the Iranian Defense Ministry inaugurated a specialized hospital for the treatment of cancer.

In October 2017, Iran’s Ministry of Health and Medical Education signed a memorandum of understanding with British-based healthcare operator International Hospital Group (IHG), which undertook to invest 1.8 billion euro ($1.9 billion) in hospital developments across Iran.
