Palestinians Urge Arabs to Boycott Warsaw Summit

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Palestinian foreign minister is asking Arab countries to boycott or downgrade their representation at the upcoming US-sponsored summit in Poland.

Riad Malki said that, at the very least, Arab nations should have low-profile delegations, below the ministerial level, at the conference, AP reported.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are sending foreign ministers. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be at the summit.

Malki said the Palestinians "view the Warsaw conference as a plot against the Palestinian cause."

The international conference will be held in Warsaw on February 13 and 14.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said last month that the meeting would “focus on Middle East stability and peace and freedom and security here in this region, and that includes an important element of making sure that Iran is not a destabilizing influence.”
