Iran More Determined to Fight Terrorism: Spokesman

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman slammed Wednesday’s terror attack that killed more than 20 members of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in a southeastern province, stressing that such inhumane crimes only strengthen the country’s resolve to combat terrorism.

The terrorist attack in the province of Sistan and Balouchestan killed 27 IRGC members and injured 13 others.

The IRGC personnel were traveling between the cities of Zahedan and Khash, in Sistan and Balouchestan, when their bus was targeted in a suicide car bomb attack.

The IRGC’s Quds Base said in a statement that an explosives-laden car rammed into the bus, which was taking the personnel back to their homes.

The so-called Jaish ul-Adl terrorist group has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahrain Qassemi later on Wednesday condemned the attack and expressed sympathy with the families of the martyrs and those injured.

“Resorting to such inhumane crimes by this terrorist grouplet, which is supported by some regional countries militarily, financially and ideologically, only strengthens the determination of the Iranian government and nation to continue on the path of fighting terrorism in the region,” he stated.

Qassemi also said that Iranian military and intelligence forces will certainly take revenge against those behind the attack.
