TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces warned the perpetrators of a recent attack on the IRGC forces in southeast Iran to expect an severe revenge from the Iranian nation.

“If any group is taking shelter in Pakistan by receiving Saudi and Emirati money and weapons and is infiltrating individuals into the country (Iran) to carry out such terrorist attacks, (they) must know that the flames of the Iranian nation’s revenge will obliterate their dynasty,” Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri said in an address to a group of military commanders in the city of Qom on Monday, referring to a Wednesday terrorist attack that killed 27 IRGC personnel in southeast Iran.

A bus carrying IRGC personnel was traveling between the cities of Zahedan and Khash, in Sistan and Balouchestan on February 13, when it was targeted in a suicide car bomb attack. Twenty-seven IRGC members were killed and 13 others injured in the attack, claimed by the so-called Jaish ul-Adl terrorist group based in Pakistan.

Elsewhere in his comments, the senior general said Iran has gained such great military capabilities that no country would dare take action against Iran, adding that the enemies are aware that the costs of military aggression against the Islamic Republic would be much heavier than its benefits.

Highlighting Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei’s call for an incessant boost to the country’s military preparedness, Major General Baqeri said such readiness and great power of the Armed Forces has deterred the adversaries from launching aggression.

Ayatollah Khamenei has reiterated on various occasions that Iran’s defense capabilities and power are not subject to negotiations.

In November 2018, Ayatollah Khamenei said that Iran’s enhanced military preparedness would frighten the foes and be deterrent against the enemies, underlining, “The Islamic Republic is not intending to begin a war against anyone, but you (the Iranian military forces) should boost your capabilities in such a way that not only the enemy would be fearful and afraid of attacking Iran, but also thanks to the solidarity, might, and effective presence of the Armed Forces, the specter of threats against the Iranian nation would be swept away.”
