Footage Shows Close Combat between Syrian Army, Terrorists in Northern Hama

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - New footage has been released showing the Syrian army’s elite forces in battle with terrorists in northern Hama regions on Sunday.

The Tiger Forces of the army can be seen in the video that was posted on Facebook by pro-government activists, using heavy machine guns against a group of militants near the front-lines in the northern Hama province after they tried to infiltrate army position.

The elite Tiger Forces have been redeployed to the Hama front after multiple cases of militants breaching a peace agreement with the government as well as preparing to launch a new operation to retake the Idlib axis.

Syrian Arab News Agency reported multiple breaches of cease fire agreements with the militants after they shelled civilian areas and army positions in northern and northwestern Hama province during the past couple of weeks using mortar launchers, rockets and other sorts of heavy weaponry.

The northern Hama area is adjacent to the province of Idlib, where there are large concentrations of Takfiri militants.

Idlib and some surrounding areas are the last major bastions of Takfiri terrorists and anti-government militants in Syria, where the Syrian government has in recent months retaken much of the territory it had lost since the conflict erupted in the country in 2011.
