Unlike Enemies, Iran Stronger than 40 Years Ago: Leader

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei highlighted Iran’s might in the face of enemies and said unlike the adversaries’ front that has grown weaker, the Islamic Republic is stronger now than it was four decades ago.

“Today, the confrontation between the fronts of the truth and falsehood is the same as their confrontation in the era of the great divine prophets and the era of the (Shiite) imams,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in a meeting with religious eulogists in Tehran on Tuesday, held on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad’s daughter Hazrat Fatemeh Zahra (PBUH), which Iranians celebrate as national Women’s Day and Mother’s Day.

Just as the front of falsehood was destroyed in that era despite the large number of its members and extent of its equipment, today, the same fate awaits the front that has stood against the Islamic Revolution and thus one should not be afraid of the enemy, the Leader added.

“Over the past forty years, the enemies have stood with all their power and capabilities against the Islamic Revolution…,” Ayatollah Khamenei stated.

However, the Leader added, the Iranian nation, with reliance on God, can overcome the enemy plots.

Ayatollah Khamenei went on to say that the Iranian nation is now stronger than ever while the enemy front is weaker than in the past.

In a speech in December 2018, the Leader dismissed comments by US officials that the Islamic Republic would not see its 40th anniversary, saying the Iranian nation will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Revolution this year more magnificently than before.

Pointing to the uncovered plots that Americans have hatched over the past two years to harm Iran, such as imposing sanctions and assisting Iran’s foes, the Leader also noted that the US objective was to create bipolarity and division in Iran through sanctions and anti-security measures.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime on February 11, 1979, ending the 2,500 years of monarchy in the country.
