IAEA’s Verification Contrasts US, Israeli Lies about Iran, Zarif Says

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the International Atomic Energy Agency’s recent verification of Iran’s compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers contrasts “constant lies” that Washington and Tel Aviv tell about Iran.

“Contrasting the constant lies that Netanyahu, Trump & Associates tell about Iran, the IAEA once again—and for the umpteenth time—affirms our standing by our word and adhering to the nuclear accord that the US has illegally violated. Our patience, however, is running thin,” Zarif said in a message posted on his Twitter account late on Monday.

Earlier in the day, the director general of the IAEA, Yukiya Amano, said Tehran was implementing its nuclear-related commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

“It is essential that Iran continues to fully implement those commitments,” Amano said, addressing IAEA’s board of governors in Vienna.

The agency continues to verify the non-diversion of nuclear material declared by Iran under its Safeguards Agreement, he added.

The IAEA is responsible for monitoring Iran’s nuclear activities as per the nuclear deal and should also help Iran develop its nuclear energy program.

On May 8, US President Donald Trump pulled his country out of the JCPOA, which was achieved in Vienna in 2015 after years of negotiations among Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).
