Iran Runner-Up at 2019 UWW Freestyle World Cup
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran finished in second place at the 2019 United World Wrestling (UWW) Freestyle World Cup on Sunday.
Iran lost to host Russia 9-1 in the final match.
Russia claimed its seventh overall Freestyle World Cup title and first gold since its title-winning performance at the 2011 Makhachkala World Cup at the Yakutsk’s Triumph Sports Training Center.
Iran had defeated Mongolia, USA and Georgia in its way to the final match.
Defending champion the United States edged Japan, 6-4 in the bronze-medal match.
