The announcement was made at the AFF Council Meeting in Siem Reap, in northwestern Cambodia, Sunday.
The countries affiliated to AFF are Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste and Vietnam.

Sheikh Salman took over as the 10th President of the AFC following his election by a resounding majority in the AFC Extraordinary Congress in May 2013. He was also elected to the FIFA Executive Committee at the Extraordinary Congress.
In 2015, Sheikh Salman was re-elected as the AFC President and as the FIFA Vice President. In 2018, he was appointed as the FIFA Senior Vice President.
