Iran Trampling on US’ Reputation by Helping Iraq, Syria: Cleric

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Tehran's Provisional Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Kazem Seddiqi highlighted the US government's failures in the Middle East region and said the Islamic Republic managed to “trample on the reputation of the US” by helping to boost security in Iraq and Syria.

Addressing a congregation of worshippers in Tehran on Friday, Ayatollah Seddiqi hailed Iran’s achievements after the 1979 Islamic Revolution and said, “Our people have believed in the Revolution and this has become part of their social identity.”

He further pointed to Iran’s regional role and said, “With the help of the two neighboring countries of Iraq and Syria, we managed to ensure the security of these countries and trample on the US’ reputation and will do so from now on.”

In recent years, the Middle East has been plagued with Takfiri terrorist groups like Daesh (ISIL or ISIS), which are believed to have been created and supported by the West and some regional Arab countries.

The terrorist groups, which claim to be Islamic but whose actions are anything but, have been committing heinous crimes not only against non-Muslims but mostly against Muslims in the region.

Iraq and Syria have been among the countries gripped by terrorism.

Iran, a close ally of the two countries, has supported their legitimate governments in their campaign against foreign-backed militancy and terrorism.
