Sri Lanka’s President Asks Defense Secretary Inspector General of Police to Resign
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena asked the defense secretary and the inspector general of police (IGP) to resign, Sri Lanka’s news portal News First reported on Wednesday, citing own sources.

Sirisena earlier asked to carry out the reorganization of law enforcement structures and take strict measures against the employees of intelligence services who did not take measures to prevent the terror attacks that happened on Sunday despite warnings of their threat.
He noted that he will make the corresponding decision in 24 hours since the moment of the statement.
It earlier emerged that India’s authorities had warned Sri Lanka’s intelligence services of the threat of terror attacks by extremists ahead of the explosions that occurred in the largest Sri Lankan city of Colombo last Sunday, TASS news agency reported.
On April 21, the heaviest in the country’s history series of terror attacks occurred in Sri Lanka, in which 359 people were killed, including 39 foreigners. Eight explosions shook the cities of Colombo, Negombo and Batticaloa, in particular in Catholic churches during Easter services and in hotels. Suicide bombers who were Sri Lankan citizens were involved in the attacks.
