Syrian Troops Retake Key Area in Hama (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian forces on Sunday regained control of a strategic area in the west-central province of Hama, a report said.

Syrian troops on Sunday stepped up their attacks against terrorists in Hama and managed to capture Kafr Nbouda from militants, SANA news agency reported.

They first captured Kafr Nbouda on May 8, then lost it Wednesday. The village is located on the southwestern edge of Idlib, the last major rebel stronghold in the country.

The militants who lost control of the village are members of the al-Qaeda-linked Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) terrorist group.

Turkey and Russia brokered a deal in September 2018 to create a demilitarized zone in the region that would be evacuated of all heavy weapons and militants.

However, terrorist outfits especially militants from the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, formerly known as al-Nusra Front, constantly breach the agreement by attacking civilians and carrying out provocations against the Syrian army.
