Azmoun scored 13 goals in Russian league, one goal behind Fyodor Chalov.
“Everything went very well and we won a well-deserved championship. I want to congratulate the fans, my team mates. We did everything right to become champion,” Azmoun said in an interview with FC-Zenit.
“I would like to congratulate Fyodor Chalov for winning the Golden Boot. He is a good player. But for me the team winning is more important than personal awards. I have never thought about being top scorer. The title was what was important,” he added.
“I have already said that everything has been very cool. We have a great team and great fans. I hope next season I will continue to play well and please the fans,” Azmoun concluded.
