Iran’s President: US Pressures Maxed Out

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Having exhausted all its possibilities in pressuring Iran, the US is losing the power to gain desired results from the sanctions, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Wednesday.

Addressing a weekly cabinet session in Tehran, Rouhani said, “The Iranian nation should know that the US pressure against our country has reached the highest point, and its capacity is practically ending.”

“Hereafter, the (US) sanctions and pressure will be losing their capacity and deplete,” he added.

The president also highlighted the consistence voice in Iran in condemnation of the US policies, adding, “Today, everybody knows well that the main one being to blame for all problems is the US.”

He also emphasized that any foreign official visiting Iran would hear the same policies and stances in separate meetings with the authorities, adding that all Iranian officials and people hold a common view.

His comments came a few hours before Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrives in Tehran.

The Japanese leader is scheduled to hold meetings with top Iranian officials, including Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and President Rouhani.

Western media speculate that Abe is visiting Iran to mediate between Tehran and Washington. He had a meeting with US President Donald Trump in May.

Recently, Ayatollah Khamenei ruled out the possibility of negotiations with the United States.

The Leader said talks between Tehran and Washington will be fruitless and harmful.

Ayatollah Khamenei warned that sitting down with the US would not result in negotiations, but it is more of a tactic that Americans would use to back their pressure campaign strategy against Iran.
