Japan Our Fourth Final at AFC U-20 Futsal Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran coach Hamid Shandizi says the match against Japan at the AFC U-20 Futsal Championship semi-finals will be their fourth final.

Iran will meet the Japanese team on Thursday while Indonesia face Afghanistan.

“This is going to be our fourth final. We will, of course, prepare to play against Japan,” Shandizi said.

“Thailand was eliminated from the competition and anything is possible in futsal, that’s the beauty of it. We want to beat Japan, and we want to win the title,” he added.

Japan also is a strong contender for the title after seeing off Tajikistan, Vietnam and Iraq, and head coach Ryuji Suzuki is more than satisfied with his side’s growth.

“My philosophy of the game hasn’t changed, but we faced a really strong team (Iraq), and all the players grew during the match,” said Suzuki.

“We have to prepare for the semi-final, and focus on our defense. Yes, we have an issue with our finishing, and we will continue training on that too,” he added.
