France Volleyball Captain Toniutti Says Iran Is A Safe Country

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - France national team volleyball captain Benjamin Toniutti says Iran is a safe country.

Toniutti is in Ardabil, Iran to represent his country at the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Men's Nations League.

Roosters started the week 4 with a 3-0 win over Australia on Friday.

France will face Portugal and Iran on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

“I have good knowledge of Iran volleyball team because we have played them several times in the past five years. Iran is one of the strongest teams in the world. I have good knowledge of Iranian players who play in the European leagues,” the France setter told in an interview with Tasnim news agency.

“There is a wonderful atmosphere here and the people tried to take picture with me.  I also know it will be a difficult for the teams playing Iran in the hall, because Iran is highly supported at home,” Toniutti added.

“We entered Iran without any problem and felt safe and secure. We’ve been very well-received here and I don’t care about what the media say about the country because we are here to play volleyball,” the French player stated.

“Many teams have participated in this edition without their main players but Iran play with its main team. I think they have a chance to win a medal in the final,” Toniutti concluded.
