Iran’s Solhipour Claims Gold at World Para Powerlifting Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Hamed Solhipour from Iran won a gold medal at the World Para Powerlifting Championships in Kazakhstan’s capital Nur-Sultan on Thursday.

Solhipour claimed a gold in the men’s up to 97kg with 235kg lift.

He secured his first world title by bettering his own Asian mark of 234kg with success at 235kg.

China's Yan Panpan was the runner-up with 227kg, while Colombia's Fabio Torres came third with 225kg.

The 2019 World Para Powerlifting Championship is being held with the participation of more than 450 athletes from 79 countries and will end on July 20.
