Iran’s Rahman Snatches Gold at World Para Powerlifting Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Siamand Rahman from Iran won a gold medal in the men's over 107kg at the World Para Powerlifting Championships in Kazakhstan’s capital Nur-Sultan on Friday.

Rahman, two-time Paralympics gold medalist, won the gold medal thanks to a 265kg lift.

Mansour Pourmirzaei, also from Iran, grabbed a silver with 236kg.

The bronze medal went to Iraqi Faris Al Ageeli who lifted 235kg.

Iran’s Rouhollah Rostami and Hamed Solhipour had previously won two gold medals in the men's up to 80kg and 97kg, respectively.

Nader Moradi in the men’s up to 72kg and Aliakbar Gharibshi in the men’s up to 107kg had won two silvers and Amir Jafari seized a bronze medal in the men’s up to 65kg.

The 2019 World Para Powerlifting Championship is being held with the participation of more than 450 athletes from 79 countries and will end on July 20.
