We Lost to A Strong Team, Brazil U-21 Volleyball Coach Says

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Brazil coach Giovane Gavio says they have lost against a strong team in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s U-21 World Championship.

Brazil was defeated against Iran 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-17) on Friday evening at Isa Sport City in Bahrain in the competition’s semifinal.

“We didn’t play well. Just in the first set, we had some opportunities that we couldn’t maximize. Afterwards, they just served very well. They did their best. They are a very strong team,” Gavio said.

“We will try our best to take the third place. We have to learn from this. The match against Russia is a new challenge,” he added.

Brazil player Guilherme Voss Dos Santos also praised the Iranian team.

“I think our team couldn’t really understand when we had the chances to do things. We needed to be calm to take all the opportunities. Iran wasn’t going to present a lot of opportunities for us. They are a very stable and mature team. They came in with a strong serve and we held it, but we couldn’t make our own points,” Dos Santos said.
